Know About Meerut is a city in the territory of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is an ancient city where settlements of the Indus Valley Civilization have been found in and around the region. The city is located 70 km (43 mi) north-east of the national capital New Delhi and 453 km (281 mi) north-west of the state capital Lucknow.
Starting in 2011, Meerut is the 33rd most crowded metropolitan agglomeration and the 26th most crowded city in India. It was ranked 292 in 2006 and is projected to be ranked 242 on the list of the world’s largest cities and urban areas in 2020. The municipal area (as of 2001) is 141.89 km (54.78 sq mi), of which 35.68 km (3,568.06 ha) is cantonment. The city is probably the biggest maker of outdoor supplies and the biggest maker of instruments in India. The city is also an education center in western Uttar Pradesh, and is also known as the “Sports City of India”. The city is celebrated for being the beginning stage of the 1857 disobedience to British pioneer rule.
Education
Meerut is an education hub of western Uttar Pradesh, with four universities, about 50 engineering colleges, 23 management colleges, seven pharmacy colleges, four colleges offering hotel management, one college offering fashion design, more than 150 academic colleges And there are more than 50 school. The city is home to Chaudhary Charan Singh University (once Meerut University), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Swami Vivekananda Subharti University, and Shobhit University. The city has a government engineering college, Sir Chhotu Ram Institute of Engineering and Technology, a constituent college of Chaudhary Charan Singh University. There are schools affiliated with recognized boards like ICSE, CBSE, IB, and state boards. One such school is St. John’s Senior Secondary School (established by Begum Samru) which is over 130 years old, the first IB school in Uttar Pradesh was also Vidya Global School.
